1. About these Terms
1.1 Who they apply to
These Terms apply to everyone who uses SelfMSF, whether you are reading market content as a guest, holding a demo account, or trading on a live account. Different parts of the Terms may matter more depending on how you use the Services, but the whole document applies to you.
1.2 When we update them
We review these Terms from time to time. Updates may be needed because we add a feature, change a provider, respond to a legal requirement, or simply improve the wording. The version published on our website is the version in force.
For material changes we will make reasonable efforts to notify you in advance, usually through an in-platform notice or a message to your registered email address. Continuing to use SelfMSF after an updated version takes effect means you accept the new Terms, to the extent permitted by law.
2. Opening an account
2.1 Eligibility
You may only open a SelfMSF account if you:
- are at least 18 years old, or the age of legal majority where you live if that is higher;
- have full legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement;
- are not located in, or a resident of, a country where our Services are restricted or unavailable;
- are opening the account for yourself and not on behalf of someone else, unless we have agreed otherwise in writing.
Access to specific instruments, leverage levels or payment methods may vary by region. We may refuse an application without giving reasons where we are legally entitled to do so.
2.2 Information you give us
During registration we will ask for personal details, contact information and, as part of our verification process, identity and address documents. You confirm that everything you provide is true, complete and up to date, and you agree to tell us promptly if any of it changes.
Our verification requirements are described in more detail in the SelfMSF KYC and AML Policy. Until verification is complete, some functions, including withdrawals, may be unavailable.
2.3 One account per person
Each client may hold one live trading account unless we have expressly approved additional accounts. Duplicate accounts may be merged, restricted or closed.
3. Looking after your account
3.1 Your credentials
Your username, password and any two-factor authentication method are personal to you. You are responsible for all activity carried out through your account, whether or not you authorised it, unless it results from our own failure to apply reasonable security measures.
We ask you to:
- choose a password you do not use anywhere else;
- enable two-factor authentication where it is offered;
- never share login details, one-time codes or recovery phrases with anyone, including people claiming to work for SelfMSF;
- log out after using a shared or public device;
- tell us immediately if you think your account has been compromised.
3.2 Suspicious activity
If we detect unusual login patterns, unexpected changes to account details or activity that looks inconsistent with your normal behaviour, we may temporarily freeze access while we investigate. We will restore access as soon as we are satisfied the account is secure.
4. What SelfMSF provides
4.1 The Services
SelfMSF offers an online trading environment for contracts for difference (CFDs) on forex, stocks, indices, commodities, metals and crypto. Depending on your account type and location, the Services may include:
- live and delayed pricing, charts and watchlists;
- order placement and position management tools;
- account dashboards, statements and transaction history;
- educational articles, glossaries and platform guides;
- customer support through the channels listed on our website.
We may add, change, pause or withdraw features at any time. Where a change significantly affects how you use the Services, we will try to give reasonable notice.
4.2 Demo accounts
Demo accounts use virtual funds and simulated execution. They are intended for practice and familiarisation only. Results achieved on a demo account are not an indication of how a live account will perform.
4.3 Availability
We work hard to keep the platform running smoothly, but we cannot promise uninterrupted access. Scheduled maintenance, software releases, connectivity issues, provider outages and events outside our control may all affect availability. Where possible, we will announce planned maintenance in advance.
5. Acceptable use
5.1 What we expect
You agree to use SelfMSF honestly, lawfully and in a way that does not harm the platform, our staff, our providers or other clients.
5.2 What is not allowed
You must not:
- access or try to access any account, system or data that is not yours;
- upload malware, run denial-of-service attacks or otherwise interfere with our infrastructure;
- use bots, scripts or automated tools to extract data from the platform without our written permission;
- exploit pricing errors, latency, or platform malfunctions, or engage in arbitrage strategies that rely on them;
- open positions designed to abuse bonuses, promotions or negative balance protection;
- provide false information, impersonate another person, or conceal your true identity or location;
- use the Services for money laundering, terrorist financing, fraud or any other illegal purpose;
- bypass or attempt to bypass any technical restriction, geo-block or security control.
Breaching this section may result in positions being closed, profits from abusive activity being reversed, your account being suspended or closed, and, where appropriate, a report to the relevant authorities.
6. Trading on SelfMSF
6.1 Your decisions, your responsibility
Every order you place is your own decision. SelfMSF provides execution technology and market access; we do not assess whether a particular trade, instrument or strategy is suitable for you. Nothing on the platform, including charts, commentary or educational material, is personal investment advice unless we have agreed to provide advisory services under a separate written agreement.
6.2 Prices and execution
Prices shown on the platform are indicative until an order is executed. Market data comes from third-party liquidity and data providers and may be delayed, interrupted or subject to error. In fast or illiquid markets, the price at which an order is filled may differ from the price you saw when you placed it. Stop orders are not guaranteed unless the instrument’s specification says otherwise.
6.3 Margin, leverage and close-outs
CFDs are traded on margin. You must maintain sufficient margin to keep positions open. If your account equity falls below the required level, we may close some or all of your positions without prior notice. It remains your responsibility to monitor your account and margin level at all times.
6.4 Obvious errors
If a trade is executed at a price that is clearly wrong because of a technical fault, a data feed error or a manifest mistake, we may amend or cancel it. We will act reasonably and inform you when this happens.
7. Risk acknowledgement
7.1 Trading risk
CFDs are complex instruments and carry a high risk of losing money quickly because of leverage. Prices in forex, crypto, stocks, indices, commodities and metals can move sharply in response to economic data, central bank decisions, political events and changes in liquidity. You could lose your entire deposit. Please read our Risk Disclosure before trading.
7.2 No promises
We do not guarantee profits, returns or any specific market outcome. Past performance, back-tested results and hypothetical scenarios are not reliable indicators of future results. Only trade with money you can afford to lose.
8. Deposits, withdrawals and fees
8.1 Funding your account
Deposits must come from a payment method held in your own name. We do not accept third-party payments. Deposits from a payment method that fails this test may be returned, less any processing costs.
8.2 Withdrawals
Withdrawals are processed back to the original funding method wherever possible. We may ask for additional verification before releasing funds, particularly for large amounts or where the funding method has changed. Processing times depend on the payment provider.
8.3 Costs
Trading on SelfMSF may involve spreads, commissions, overnight financing (swap) charges, currency conversion fees, inactivity fees and payment processing costs. Current pricing is published on our website and in the instrument specifications. Please review it before you trade.
8.4 Changes to fees
We may change our fees as market conditions, provider costs or our Services change. Where required, we will notify you before changes take effect.
9. Intellectual property
Everything that makes up SelfMSF, including the name, logos, platform design, software, text, graphics and data compilations, belongs to us or to our licensors. You receive a limited, personal, non-transferable licence to use the platform for its intended purpose. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, reverse engineer or build derivative works from any part of the Services unless the law expressly allows it.
10. Privacy
We collect and process personal data to open and run your account, meet our legal obligations and improve our Services. How we do this is explained in our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy, which form part of these Terms. Please keep your contact details up to date so that important notices reach you.
11. Third parties
11.1 Providers
Parts of the Services rely on third parties such as liquidity providers, data vendors, payment processors, hosting companies and identity verification services. We choose these partners carefully, but we do not control their systems and are not responsible for interruptions originating with them.
11.2 Links
Our website may link to external sites. Those links are provided for your convenience and do not mean we endorse the content. Third-party sites have their own terms and privacy policies.
12. Suspension and closure
12.1 By us
We may restrict, suspend or close your account, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe that:
- you have breached these Terms or any applicable law;
- your account is being used for fraud, abuse or prohibited trading practices;
- we are required to do so by a regulator, court or other authority;
- we cannot complete or maintain verification of your identity;
- continuing to provide the Services would expose us or others to unacceptable risk.
12.2 By you
You can close your account at any time by contacting support. Before we complete the closure, open positions must be closed and any outstanding balances settled. Closing your account does not remove liability for anything that happened before closure. We may keep records as required by law.
13. Liability
13.1 What we are responsible for
We will provide the Services with reasonable care and skill. Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability for fraud, for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for anything else that cannot be limited under applicable law.
13.2 What we are not responsible for
To the extent the law allows, SelfMSF is not liable for:
- losses resulting from your own trading decisions;
- ordinary market movements, gapping, slippage or lack of liquidity;
- interruptions caused by your internet connection, device or software;
- failures of third-party systems outside our reasonable control;
- indirect or consequential losses, including lost profits or lost opportunity.
13.3 Your responsibility to us
Where permitted by law, you agree to compensate us for losses, claims and reasonable costs that arise directly from your breach of these Terms or your unlawful use of the Services.
14. General
14.1 Law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws applicable to the operator of SelfMSF as stated on our website. Nothing in these Terms removes consumer protections that cannot lawfully be waived. If you have a complaint, please contact support first so that we can try to resolve it.
14.2 Severability
If any part of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest continues to apply.
14.3 No waiver
If we do not enforce a right under these Terms straight away, that does not mean we have given it up.
14.4 Assignment
You may not transfer your rights under these Terms to anyone else. We may transfer ours to a successor business, provided your rights are not reduced as a result.
14.5 Language
Where these Terms are translated, the English version prevails if there is a conflict.
15. Contact
