How Traders Use SelfMSF Day to Day

Traders around the world share the markets they follow and how SelfMSF fits into their trading week.

Olivia P.
“Mostly EUR/USD and gold, plus a couple of US tech names when earnings are out. Set up my watchlist in one evening and haven't touched the layout since.”
Olivia P., Melbourne, Australia
Liam O.
“Went short on gold a couple of times last month when the dollar was strong. Being able to trade it either way is the main reason I moved over from my old broker.”
Liam O., Toronto, Canada
Sophie M.
“Asked support how withdrawals work before I put any money in. Clear answer, and my first one came back to my card exactly the way they said it would.”
Sophie M., Manchester, United Kingdom
Lukas B.
“Indices and a bit of oil, that's me. S&P, Brent and the dollar on one screen means a lot less tab switching 👍”
Lukas B., Zurich, Switzerland
Freya N.
“Kept my first few trades small on EUR/USD while I got used to the order screen. A month in I've added the DAX and some silver, and I check it on my phone on the train most mornings ☕”
Freya N., Gothenburg, Sweden

Questions Traders Ask Before Opening an Account

Quick answers about the markets, the accounts and getting started with SelfMSF.

What is an online trading platform?

An online trading platform is software that lets you follow market prices and place and manage trades over the internet. SelfMSF brings six global markets into one account, with live prices, charts and watchlists to help you keep track of the markets you trade and manage your positions in one place.

You can trade CFDs on forex, stocks, indices, commodities, metals and crypto from one SelfMSF account. Every account level includes every market. The full list of instruments, with trading hours and conditions for each one, is available on the platform.

No. Markets on SelfMSF are traded as CFDs, which means you trade on the price movement of an asset without owning it. CFDs are leveraged products, and leverage increases both gains and losses. Our Learn the Basics guide explains how margin works, with a worked example.

Yes. Markets on SelfMSF are traded as CFDs, which means you can open a sell position if you expect a price to fall, or a buy position if you expect it to rise. A move against your position leads to a loss in either direction. A stop loss can help limit how far that goes.

The minimum first deposit depends on the account level you choose. Every level gives you the same six markets, and higher levels add more personal support. You can compare them side by side on the Account Types page before you decide.
